On the 17th of October 2019, Team Sweden invite to an event dedicated to the Kano-Maradi and Kano-Dutse railway line project in Nigeria.
Cooperation with Sweden
Portugal’s largest EPC Mota Engil has approached the The Swedish Export Credit Agency (EKN) and The Swedish Export Credit Corporation (SEK) for a Swedish export credit financing in connection with a railway project in Nigeria.
Given that the condition for such financing is a minimum of 30% Swedish content among other requirements, this opportunity offers a great possibility for Swedish companies to position themselves as suppliers.
Call for Swedish companies
Within the framework of this project, Swedish suppliers within the following areas are needed:
- Earth works, track works, signalling and communication works, depot, stations, rolling stock facilities, etc.
About the project
The project involves the construction of a standard gauge railway line with an alignment of about 387 km from Kano to Maradi and a branch line from Kano to Dutse. The 284 km Kano-Maradi railway line will connect three federal states in Northern Nigeria, namely Kano, Jigawa and Katsina, and the Republic of Niger (Maradi), while the 93 km branch line will connect the capital of Jigawa’s State (Dutse) to Kano. This project starts in 2021 and will be ongoing for approximately three to four years.
The project is a cooperation between the German bank KfW IPEX, Mota Engil, Business Sweden, EKN och SEK.
Program & Registration
The presentation of the project will be followed by one-on-one meetings. Participants will learn what the project is about, and the steps Swedish companies need to take to participate. You will meet all important stakeholders involved in this project.
